On today’s InsideOut Forum Discussion Call we continued the conversation about what do YOU need and how to give it to yourself. This year in The Stream, we are focusing on how to create a sacred holiday, not just going through with the usual frenetic pace of buying and consuming and going numb. This topic really hit a cord with all the participants today, sharing what their real deep longings are and then seeing that these longings are never satisfied in the patterns that we’ve used so far.
One man shared that what he really needs is neutrality and to stop being so reactive. When he is neutral, he feels self-love and stops the pattern of self-loathing that plagues him. Following his share, a woman described her need to have compassion for herself and her partner, and to have patience. She could acknowledge that when she does, she can release the judgment about herself that she is uncaring and critical and she can relax. A couple of women shared that they have had trouble being all of who they are and embracing their gifts, because they feared that it wouldn’t look “feminine.” They could both see how they felt that their security and ability to be loved were based on the need to either stay small and feminine or just feminine.
Others shared the universal need to stop trying to control reality and relax into their lives and the connection with their loved ones and to see that their lives were fulfilling and rich even though things are blocking their “plans” right now. Another woman shared that she has discovered that she has the gift of feeling and channeling energy and was encouraged to share that gift, but she is noticing that a lot of pain is coming up since this revelation on the show. We addressed the possibility that there is an aspect of her that wants to block her forward momentum and make her feel the pain instead of the excitement of getting started with expressing her gift. Whatever the gift that you need, please share it with us. There are sure to be many others who are feeling the same way and could benefit from your gift of sharing. Help us co-create an online community where it is safe to be real!
